M.S. –UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA
PH.D. –UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA
Post-doctoral training –NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH

Research Background and Interests:

Dr. Yim received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the (1997) after having received an undergraduate degree in physics from Swarthmore College in 1986 and a M.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from UNC in 1992. He received post-doctoral training in the Imaging Sciences Program at the National Institutes of Health from 1998-2002. He then joined the faculty of the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in the Dept. of Radiology. Dr. Yim is interested in vascular disease and the development of novel radiologic methods for assessing vascular function. His research emphasizes the role of computational methodology in diagnostic imaging. He is particularly interested in the hemodynamic aspects of vascular disease and the use of magnetic resonance imaging for making hemodynamic measurements. Potential implications for this include improvement in radiologic evaluation of carotid artery disease and renovascular disease. He is also interested in broader applications of computational methods in diagnostic imaging including improvement in the evaluation of cancer.
