As one of the nation’s leading comprehensive medical schools, UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in health care delivery. In cooperation with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, the medical school’s principal affiliate, they comprise New Jersey’s premier academic medical center.
Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Group (RWJUMG), the medical school’s multi-specialty group practice, is the largest in New Jersey, with 500 physician members and 200 specialty and subspecialty programs. RWJUMG has a full range of primary care services available to patients through family medicine, general internal medicine and pediatrics, and 14 clinical departments that provide a broad spectrum of advanced specialty care. In addition, RWJUMG physicians provide clinical care at numerous hospitals and ambulatory care sites throughout the state. More than one million patient visits and medical procedures are performed annually.
The Eric B. Chandler Health Center plays a key role in meeting the health care needs of the greater New Brunswick, NJ, community, offering medical services to all who are in need, regardless of a person’s or family’s ability to pay. A federally qualified community health center, Chandler is operated jointly by UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the Eric B. Chandler Community Advisory Board, Inc. The goal of the center is to eliminate barriers to obtaining quality, family-oriented primary and dental health care for its diverse, multicultural population by providing comprehensive acute and chronic care to patients of all ages. A broad spectrum of social services also is available, as well as community-based health and wellness programs.
The Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) is one of only 41 National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers and the only one in New Jersey. CINJ is dedicated to improving the prevention, detection, treatment, and care of patients with cancer, through the transformation of laboratory discoveries into clinical practice. As a Center of Excellence of UMDNJ–Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, CINJ offers its patients access to the latest cancer research studies and experimental therapies in a caring environment that has been CINJ's hallmark from the beginning.
