Subject: Seasonal Flu Vaccine Information
To: All Employees, All Students, in Units/Schools: RWJMS
The supply of seasonal flu shots on the Central Campus has been exhausted due to the increased response from our faculty and staff.
Employee Health Services has ordered additional supplies and is awaiting confirmation on fulfillment of the order.
Please be aware that it is early in the season for the typical flu, however, if you have the opportunity to obtain the vaccination from your physician or at a free vaccination clinic, please do so, particularly if you have pre-existing health conditions that may put you at high-risk.
Employee Health Services encourages everyone, even those vaccinated, to continue promoting good health and hygiene in the workplace and at home.
Precautions to avoid spreading germs include:
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
- If you don't have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve, not your hands.
- Put your used tissue in the waste basket.
- Clean your hands after coughing or sneezing: wash with soap and water or clean with alcohol-based hand cleaner.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.- Stay home if you have a fever.
- Avoid contact with those who are sick if possible.
The H1N1 vaccine is not yet available. Information about H1N1 shots will be communicated as it becomes available.
