Message from the Chief
Welcome!
The Division of Nephrology and Hypertension provides a full range of
inpatient and outpatient nephrology consultative, follow-up and dialysis
services to patients. Since 1999, the Nephrology Division has included
a Hypertension Section and has had fulltime dedicated transplant nephrologists
on faculty in conjunction with the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program.
The Division continues to position itself for the future.
Division faculty members are active participants in both basic science
and clinical research as well as teaching at all levels of medical education.
Faculty participate in medical student education during years 2, 3 and
4. Rutgers PharmD students rotate through inpatient and outpatient Nephrology
clinical services.
Residents can take nephrology or renal transplant electives and also
participate in the educational conferences of the fellowship program.
Both clinical and research training are integral components of the Nephrology
Division Fellowship Program. Fellows are required to publish a research
study in order to graduate from the program. For this reason, each fellow
is provided with six months of dedicated research time as part of their
Fellowship.
