Clinical ProgramsInpatient activities include both Nephrology and Medicine services. The Kidney and Pancreas Transplant program continues to grow in activity. During the Academic Year ending June 2005, 110 transplants were performed. Additionally, 221 candidates were listed following evaluation by the transplant team. The nephrology fellows participate fully in the inpatient nephrology and transplant services at RWJUH. An active outpatient practice in nephrology and transplant nephrology continues as well. The hemodialysis program continues to serve the dialysis needs of the community both on an outpatient and inpatient basis. Dr. Toros Kapoian is medical director of the North Brunswick and RWJUH units. During the last year, these units provided over 30,000 chronic hemodialysis treatments on a combined basis. An additional 10,500 outpatient treatments were provided in other locations. The home peritoneal dialysis program is one of the largest in the area maintaining an average of 85 patients on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) and continuous cycling peritoneal dialysis (CCPD). |
