Author Requirements

Creating Content for RWJMS iTunes U

RWJMS iTunes U supports the following types digital media content:
• Audio
• Video
• Printable material (PDF Format only)

Audio Format:
• Audio Format: AAC or MP3 format (.m4a or .mp3)
• Data Rate:128 kbits/sec
• Output Sample Rate:44.100 kHz

Video files:
• Video Format: H.264 or MPEG-4 (.mp4 or .m4v)
• Data Rate:512kbits/sec
• Image Size:640 x 480 or 640 x 360
• Frame Rate:24 frames per second

PDF:
Printable material must have the .pdf extension

Metadata and Tagging

Content distributed through RWJMS iTunes U should include additional information fields. This information should include the name of person that created the file, length of the file, and description. The iTunes interface is built from the metadata and is useful for searching through the content therefore we highly recommend that this information be included.

Policies

Adding Content to RWJMS iTunes U

All content posted on the RWJMS iTunes U must be be vetted by the Communications and Public Affiars Office for appropriateness (see procedures section).

All content must be provided to the RWJMS-OIT Web/Collaborative Services Team in the approriate format requisite for posting.

Content displaying speakers on the RWJMS iTunes should have an accompanying signed release form.

Getting Started

Getting your content posted on RWJMS iTunes U is easy. Simply follow these steps:

Welcome to the RWJMS on iTunes U web site. The RWJMS iTunes U offers an easy way to download and view video, audio, and/or PDFs content generated at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Access to the RWJMS iTunes U site is easy. Simply download iTunes U on your MAC or PC, click on one of the two links above, and download the RWJMS content of interest.

Our initial RWJMS iTunes U offering includes; The 2007 White Coat Ceremony, President William Owen's Town Hall meeting, Cancer Institute of New Jersey video/audio files co-develop with Rutgers University of the Governors Conference, and more.

Our RWJMS iTunes U private area (accessible via a UMDNJ CORE username and password) is currently hosting content to support some of our Educational needs. Dr. Carol Terregino from the Office of Education is currently using this service to facilitate the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).

We will explore creative ways to use iTunes U to further develop our mission areas: Education, Research, Patient Care and Community Health. Please come back as we continue to develop our RWJMS iTunes U.
