White Coat Ceremony

White coats are available for fitting at the Student Affairs Office 9:00am - 5:00pm Mon - Fri.

The White Coat Ceremony for the Class of 2016 will be held from 2:00- 4:00 PM on August 10th, 2012. A reception for all those in attendance will follow the ceremony.

Orientation week culminates with the White Coat Ceremony, one of RWJ’s proudest traditions. During the White Coat Ceremony, you and your fellow classmates will be coated by RWJ faculty. This ceremony is a tradition that marks the beginning of your medical career. At the end of the ceremony, you and your classmates will rise and recite the Hippocratic Oath. This year's White Coat Ceremony will be held on Friday, August 10th, 2012 in the Arline & Henry Schwartzman Courtyard at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) in New Brunswick, NJ.

You will receive your white coat at the beginning of orientation week. Because RWJ deans and faculty will coat you during the ceremony, we strongly encourage you to order an appropriately sized coat. You will have the opportunity to be fitted at the upcoming Housing Day mixers on June 8-9th, and June 22-23rd, 2012. You also can estimate your size by trying on a suit coat at a local men’s clothing store (all coats will be ordered in men’s sizes).

The White Coat Ceremony is a special day that you will likely cherish for the rest of your medical career. Due to space limitations, each student will be allotted up to 3 tickets for guests. The White Coat Ceremony is mainly intended for your parents and/or spouse. We are excited to be a part of this special day!
