Welcome to the Family Medicine Residency at Capital Health System

A University-Sponsored Community Family Medicine Residency Program in the greater Princeton/Lawrenceville/Trenton Area of New Jersey.

Our Program began in 1995 with four residents. It is the second program started by the Department of Family Medicine and is funded by Capital Health in Trenton, New Jersey where residents and faculty practice inpatient medicine, pediatrics and obstetrics. The Family Health Center in Plainsboro, New Jersey was the clinical site for office practice for residents and faculty from July 1995 to January 2008. In January 2008 we moved to Lawrenceville, New Jersey to be closer to Capital Health. In July, 2011 we moved to our present location, on Bellevue Avenue in Trenton, NJ where our residents and faculty have an increase in clinical activity specific to pediatrics, women’s health issues and geriatrics.

The center is a vigorous family practice well supported by Capital Health System and has been fully accredited by the ACGME since 2001. We have graduated a total of 56 residents. Four have completed fellowships in Geriatrics, three have completed fellowships in Sports Medicine, and one in Dermatology. The majority of our residents are in private practice in New Jersey and around the country.
