GI, Metabolism and Nutirition

The goal of the GI, Metabolism and Nutrition block is to build, using an integrative approach, a foundation of understanding of the structure-function relationships which control GI function. This information will be integrated with the study of the metabolism of key nutrients and why these homeostatic mechanisms when perturbed lead to disease states affecting the GI and other systems. Biochemical Basis of Nutrition

This course is designed to provide second year medical students with basic nutritional information and to motivate them to think about nutrition and how it applies to their own lives and the lives of their families and patients.
