Behaviorist Mentoring Workshop

Collaborative Case Review: Using Prevention Principles to Reduce Challenging Behavior

Problem behavior can be prevented when staff members understand triggers and setting events that contribute to challenging behavior, create supportive environments, and provide the individuals they support with clear expectations. This workshop will review concepts of prevention, the cornerstone of Positive Behavior Support, to help training participants determine which antecedent-based strategies would be most effective with the individuals they support. Participants are asked to bring any behavior plans, functional assessment data, and/or other strategies used in the services they provide. These materials will be used throughout the training to illustrate how these prevention principles can be applied to guide future assessment processes and explore strategies to develop more effective support plans.
