William “Bill” Gaventa, MDiv and NJ Cultural Competence Collaborative Honored with AUCD Multicultural Council Award  

William C. Gaventa, MDiv and The New Jersey Cultural Competence Collaborative were honored with the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) Multicultural Council Award for Leadership in Diversity.

The award was presented to Bill Gaventa at the AUCD 41st Annual Conference in Washington, DC on December 4, 2012. Bill Gaventa is Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Director of Community and Congregational Supports at The Elizabeth M. Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Sharon Lohrmann, PhD, Chaired TASH Annual Conference

Sharon Lohrmann

Sharon Lohrmann, PhD, chaired the conference committee for the TASH annual conference held on November 28 – December 1, 2012 in Long Beach, CA. Dr. Lohrmann also presented a workshop at the conference, “Student with Significant Disabilities and School Wide Positive Behavior Support: Success and Enduring Challenges.” TASH is a national organization focusing on equity, opportunity, and inclusion for people with disabilities.

Dr. Lohrmann is Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Director of Positive Behavior Support in Schools at The Elizabeth M. Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities.



The Boggs Center Welcomes Dina Mellas

Dina Mellas

Dina Mellas recently joined The Elizabeth M. Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities as Staff Assistant. In her role, Dina provides administrative support to the Executive Director and Deputy Director.

Previously, Dina held the position of Administrative Assistant for a medical communications firm.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature from Rutgers University.
