College to Career Ready: Innovative Practices that Lead to Integrated Employment

This presentation will demonstrate how an inclusive postsecondary education program for individuals with intellectual disabilities has established over 40 internships and collaborative relations with various employers, family members, natural supports, coworkers, and community members to achieve successful employment outcomes. More specifically, practical resources and strategies will be shared such as career interests/assessments, transportation, memorandum of agreements, internships, and college course planning. The presentation will also address evaluation and observation instruments for collecting work performance and the use of person centered planning to determine support needs, scheduling, career exploration, and video resumes.
